Today, Honda has pre-opened information on its website about the new “CBR600RR” that will be remodeled and will be announced on August 21, 2020 (Friday) .
The new “CBR600RR” is a super sports model with enhanced overall performance, equipped with a high-performance water-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, in-line 4-cylinder 599cc engine and adopting the latest electronic control technology and aerodynamic technology. It was developed as a just-size super sports model so that you can enjoy the high potential as a base model for production races using commercially available cars even in everyday life. In this model change, the high output and easy-to-handle output characteristics and agile handling, which are the characteristics of the conventional model, have been further refined to improve the power performance on the circuit and ease of handling on public roads such as winding. We are pursuing “joy of operation” by achieving both dimensions.

An update to the old dog as motorcycle manufactures are in a bit of a struggle to comply with emission regulations of the peaky 600cc class of street race replicas. The bike has been updated to comply with some countries emissions regulations (Europe is still a mystery). Power is likely to stay
around 115bhp.
Included will be a new electronics package said to likely include refined safety and performance systems such as lean sensitive traction control and cornering ABS.
The refresh will be identifiable with front fairing styling closer to the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade incorporating similar headlights and fairing mono wings. The 600 will keep its traditional under-tail exhaust.

d
etails will be released in a just over 2 weeks.

A guy I was stationed in Spain with back in the late eighties had a Hurricane 600 (which I think what the CBR 600 was called in the US back then). In true squid fashion h e hit a goat with it. He wasn’t seriously hurt but the goat was sadly killed so the farmer came after the Navy. Dude ended up paying for the goat as well as to get his bike fixed.

It sounds like it is still a 2008 CBR600RR... Probably will be a giant flop, unless there is a horse power update, which I highly doubt. New electronics are great and always welcomed, but this has the same chassis, wheels, engine, etc. Not a new bike, but rather BOLD NEW GRAPHICS. Any guesses for the MRSP? My guess is $13, 500 making only 105 RWHP.

Ouch, glad it didn’t end up messing him up too much.
An acquaintance of mine pegged off a cow last year with a 600RR after a weekend escape in the mountains. Highway speeds; bike a t otal write off. She was in race leather though so escaped with bruises and gear replacement .

* Crosses fingers. The older CBR600RR are quite prevalent here. I was surprised it was off the roster of late.

Yes, sounds like the hardware is still from the Mesozoic era and they will burn this candle down to the wick.
I hope it’s not over $13k to be honest, but Honda has been getting away with pricing like that on relics lately.

How was the cow?

It survived. I believe she almost missed it, but pin-balled off the rear quarter.

Still a great bike, plenty fast for the non-squid regular enthusiast in real world conditions, and reliable as it can be.
A bit steep price-wi se off the showroom, when one can buy a low- mileage used model with basically all the same attributes, but some folks like buying new everything.

I am sure it will be a fantastic bike. Value for dollars, not too sure yet. Plus, I am sure the ZX-6R will still eat it’s lunch at the track if performance upgrades aren’t made to the new CBR . Time will tell.

It will most likely have new bodywork, a big ugly exhaust, and minor electronic upgrades. It doesn’t need an RBW throttle but that would be neat to allow a blipper. That’s it.
The current version isn’t bad, just old, and outclassed by the R6 and ZX6.

Unless they upgrade the motor, it will continue to be the worst 600cc class race bike. It has a nice chassis but the engine is just utter dogshit compared to its rivals.

As someone who knows nothing about bikes, “ CBR1000RR-R” is still my favorite vehicle name of all time.
This bike needs more R, I can hardly tell it’s a Honda with only three of them in its name.
